OFFICE POLICIES

PAYMENTS

Full payment is expected at the beginning of each session.  It is my belief that by resolving payment up front, we are then able to focus our full attention on the clinical work. Payment is acceptable by cash, check, or credit card. Although I do not accept insurance, I am able to provide you with a superbill that includes the necessary information for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company. As the client, you are ultimately financially responsible for full payment of your services. If you have any questions regarding fees, please contact me directly.

CANCELLATION POLICY

I reserve a weekly scheduled appointment for you, meaning you are responsible for honoring that appointment time. Time spent in session together is both limited and valuable. Therefore, I encourage you not to miss an appointment whenever avoidable Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time specifically for you, a minimum of 48 hours (2 days) notice is required for re-scheduling or canceling an appointment. Unless a different agreement is reached, the full fee will be charged for sessions missed without such notification. Repeated “no show” appointments could result in termination of treatment.

TELEPHONE AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

In the event of a medical or a clinical emergency involving a threat to your safety or the safety of another, please contact 911 to request emergency assistance or promptly go to your nearest emergency room.

If there is an emergency during therapy, or in the future after termination, where I become concerned about your personal safety, the possibility of you injuring someone else, or about you receiving proper psychiatric care, I will do whatever I can within the limits of the law, to prevent you from injuring yourself or others, and to ensure that you receive the proper medical care. For this purpose, I may also contact the person whose name you have provided on the biographical sheet.

If you need to contact me between sessions, please leave a message at my office phone number (626) 765-9944 and your call will be returned as soon as possible.  I check my messages a few times during the daytime only, unless I am out of town.  If an urgent situation arises, indicate it clearly in your message.  If you are experiencing a clinical emergency or need to talk to someone right away please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.  Additional resources include the 24-hour suicide crisis line (800) 273-8255 or contact your local police. Please do not use e-mail, text messages, or faxes for emergencies as I do not always check these daily.
